The Banana Gallery was
located in the quaint
cluster of shops and restaurants that comprise this former sugar cane town of
Hawi, Hawaii. Hawi is part of the Kohala district of the Big
Island and home to lush, green grasslands and tropical forests that flank the
ancient volcano of Kohala Mountain and sweep to the sea. From the Kohala coast you can see
Maui on clear days, feel the gentle trade winds and explore the rugged lava
coastline.
Whales sport here many months of the year. Most days are balmy and
sunny with occasional gentle rains drifting down from the mountain
bringing rainbows and cooler air. Surrounded by such beauty, it
was fitting that one of Hawaii's finest landscape galleries should
be found there.
